As the heading says, this was my first ply-split basket. I had already taken a PS workshop with Julie Hedges, and had made some flat samples. I visited an exhibition of Ann Norman's PS baskets. When I got home, I wanted to try one myself, but I could only vaguely remember the structures of to any of hers.
I have made most of my baskets with cotton cords, because I had lots of spare cotton yarn and very little linen, and I don't enjoy working with wool cords. Although cotton cords sometimes seem softer than linen ones, I was amazed at how rigid this basket is, and how solid it sounds when the base is tapped.
